Psycho-Bio-Acupressure Aka 5-Point Touch Therapy

Tired of your emotions ruling you? You may want to investigate 5-Point Touch Therapy. Developed by French doctor, Pierre-Noël Delatte, Psycho-Bio-Acupressure (PBA) aka 5-Point Touch Therapy is an emotional healing technique based on the concepts of acupuncture. The process releases negative emotions, emotional blockages, and balances energy.

Acupuncture, a branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine, is built on the concepts of meridians or energetic channels that run throughout the body. When we are healthy the energy (qi) flows freely. Blocked qi can lead to disease and other unhealthy conditions. Instead of needles that acupuncturists use, the blocked energy points in PBA are released by applying pressure with the thumb or a finger.

During his twenty-year practice, Dr. Delatte was impressed with the therapeutic results of alternative healing methods. So, he embarked on a learning journey to study different alternative medical techniques. Fifteen years of research, experience from his medical practice, and experiments combined to create the 5 Point Touch Therapy.

Negative and Blocked Emotions

Emotions, feelings, and thoughts are energy. You may have experienced walking into a room where everyone is happy and having a good time; the energy is uplifting. Conversely, you may have stepped into a room where people had a serious discussion or disagreement. Without them saying anything, you picked up on “bad vibes.” In both situations, you were feeling the energy. Your emotions and thoughts have the power to impact the mind and body negatively.

Blocked emotional energy can impact a person’s life. Emotional blocks that reside in the subconscious can influence present behaviors because the events that caused them have been forgotten or suppressed. The blocks can result in self-defeating patterns that keep us from our full potential, such as low self-esteem, anger issues, or lack of confidence.

The 22 Five-Point Sequences

Dr. Delatte’s system includes 22 five-point sequences that address an array of emotional issues. The activation of the five-acupressure point sequence produces what Dr. Delatte calls a “printed circuit” through the body. The “circuits” correspond to a specific negative emotion, i.e., anxiety, depression, etc. For example, point 4 between the forefinger and thumb is an acupoint for depression. Using a combination of 5-point sequences, more than 70 emotional and physical conditions can be healed, according to Dr. Delatte.

Many physical conditions such as eczema, weight issues, and asthma may have an emotional connection according to Dr. Delatte so physical health issues can also be improved using PBA.

Self-Help or Practitioner

What is especially helpful about the system is that Psycho-Bio-Acupressure is a self-help technique. Dr. Delatte laid out the system in the book, Five Point Touch Therapy, Acupressure for the Emotional Body.

Trained PBA practitioners can go deeper into unblocking negative emotions. The practitioner in the first part of the session will release endorphins by stimulating acupressure points to rebalance energies and relax the patient. Once relaxed, the practitioner will work on unblocking negative emotions. Also, the treatment doesn’t require examining the causes of emotional issues. So, talk therapy is not part of the therapy.

Psycho-Bio-Acupressure can be used on the young and old. For example, it can help reduce anxiety in students who have test anxiety. The therapy is said to produce quick results and lasting results.

While relatively new, especially outside of France, Psycho-Bio Acupressure is a method that is gaining interest because it offers a quick, easy, and self-help way to control emotions instead of letting them control you.
